The History of the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas

Back in 1973 several local families, and individuals with Spina Bifida, as well as local medical professionals joined forces at the Dallas Easter Seals Center to create the Spina Bifida Association of Dallas, which is now the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas. The organization was originally established to be a support group offering hope and assistance to the families of growing children with Spina Bifida. Those children are now adults contributing in their own way to the world, and giving their time and resources to the organization.

The success and growth of the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas is the direct result of the dedication and perseverance of its founders. Each year more and more families and individuals with Spina Bifida benefit from support, programs, activities and education that the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas provides – all because 30 families joined together to change the future for all who were affected by Spina Bifida.  This year the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas will touch more lives than ever before – all because of the donation of time and dollars from individuals just like you.
